This multi-faceted operation in the heart of Matakana is seeking a serious Sous Chef to assist the Head Chef in leading a passionate and professional culinary team.
You will be at the heart of a new culinary adventure. Alongside the Head Chef you will be creating produce driven dishes with solid technique and creative freedom. A culinary style inspired by the sea and fertile land that surround. Working with local producers and suppliers, to craft a menu to embody the fresh flavors of the region and the season.
This role is unlike any other, this multi-million dollar project has been 12 years in the making and will change the face of the Matakana dining scene. The multifaceted nature of the business means your role is multifaceted too; a la carte dining, events and weddings.
You will be a Sous Chef with trade qualifications and relevant post qualification experience. Ideally you will have come from a background of passion and dedication with experience in modern light cooking techniques, including throw backs to fermentation and slow process cooking.
You will have a high level of cleanliness in your work and a commitment to quality. Excellent communication skills and a strong leadership approach are essential for this role as well as the ability to oversee, train and get the best out of people every day!
You will have a creative and passionate approach when it comes to food and be willing to follow company direction and processes.
You will need to be an outside the box thinker and dedicated to finding new sources of sustainable delicious products, produce and techniques.
