Seeking a qualified sushi chef for this leading and long standing Japanese restaurant nestled in the heart of the performing arts district of NZ
Our client: This iconic Japanese restaurant was the first of its kind to open over 25 years ago and has continued to cement its place as a leader in quality and authentic Japanese food year after year.
It is now seeking a new Head Chef to lead a small yet high-performing team to deliver consistent quality.
The role: Is critical to the continued success of this traditional Japanese restaurant, and will see you lead a team of 4x. Our client ideally wants the Head Chef to take the lead on all raw fish, sushi and sashimi so traditional qualifications in this section are critical.
Ideally, you will have a good command of the Japanese and English languages and will be a Chef that supports effective collaboration between BOH and FOH.
The owners are looking for a Head Chef that is open to new ideas and providing new yet authentic dishes for customers.
What you will bring to the role: - Authentic Japanese experience
- Relevant culinary qualifications specifically supporting authentic sushi making
- Proven and effective leadership within a busy yet small kitchen/team
- Ideally, you have worked in Japan
What you will be rewarded with: - $70-80k per annum (dependent on experience)
- 5x days per week however hours can be flexible between 30-50 hours per week
- Work in a very stable business with great supportive owners who are passionate about their people
