Colin Mellar

Colin brings broad commercial leadership experience across hospitality, QSR, fitness, franchising, retail, startups and multi-site businesses in New Zealand and Australia.

He has led large operating teams, carried significant P&L responsibility, built leadership capability and worked closely with franchisees, business owners and senior executives. His career has centred on improving performance, profitability and growth, while building teams capable of sustaining it.

That commercial experience now shapes his approach to recruitment.

Colin is naturally inquisitive and commercially minded. He likes to understand the bigger picture before getting into the detail. What is the business trying to achieve? What does the team need? What will success in the role really look like?

He looks beyond the CV and job description to understand the person behind the experience, the culture of the business and whether there is genuine alignment on both sides.

Colin enjoys building long-term partnerships with clients and candidates. His style is straightforward, thoughtful and personal, backed by the perspective of someone who has spent much of his career making commercial and people decisions himself.

He embraces modern recruitment tools while keeping human judgement, conversation and personal connection at the centre of the process.

Outside work, Colin enjoys good food, travel, global business and economics, and is equally happy exploring somewhere new or checking into a great hotel for a city staycation and dinner out.
